recently contacted by one of the band members with some additional info -
I was quite surprised to discover my song on YouTube. Although it was released in very limited quantities, I have had several record collectors contact me over the years to say this song was their all-time favorite psychedelic song. If you are interested, here is some background about the recording:
1. Most of the tracks were recorded in the RCA studios in New York City. The band members included myself (Hammond organ and songwriter), Bobby was the lead singer, Bruce played drums, Paul was on guitar and Gary on bass. Gary eventually went on to play with the Elephant's Memory and with John Lennon at Madison Square Garden. That is Gary standing beside John in the concert video.
2. I named the band Captain Billy's Whizbang (one z) after a popular magazine (Captain Billy's Whiz Bang) from the 1920s. We were "The Merry Men (dressed in Robin Hood attire) before the name change.
3. I continue to write (recently completed a soundtrack for a book) and have a talented son that sings and plays on YouTube (thesharebox).
Thanks for helping to keep this memory of a very special time in my life alive.
My best,
Pat
