SS77 Consumer Alert! Beware of 5.11 pants made in Indonesia. From what I've researched online, and phone calls I've made 5.11 does use different counties to produce their pants. As the demand for 5.11 gear increases, so does the need to produce their product faster (and maybe cheaper). Here is the quote from my 5.11 response.

"The reason why there might be two or more different makers is that of the factory only being capable of producing a certain number of pants at a time therefore we would need to have another factory produce the other pants."

Both 5.11 and LAPoliceGear offered to exchange at no cost to me at all. They also included the return shipping for me to send my old pants in. Even after the few weeks I've worn them. Thank you 5.11 and LAPoliceGear. Here is my summery

-TDU Ripstop (TDU Green)
-Taclite Pro (Coyote)
Country of Origin: Vietnam
Fit and Finish: Best
Details: Best overall fit and knee pad area hold the best

Original Tactical pants (Brown)
Country of Origin: China
Fit and Finish: Good
Details: Good fit, and finish. Knee pad area holds the pad nice and tight. Slight color fade in high use areas (knees/seat)

TDU RipStop (Black)
Country of Origin: Indonesia
Fit and Finish: WORST by FAR.
Details: Tight in waist, crotch, and inner thighs. Inside pockets have small tears. Uncomfortable.

  • All I can say is that 5.11 Tac-lite pants are way too expensive, I picked up 4 pairs of LAPG Operator pants for $20 a piece are an excellent deal, good quality & not overpriced.

  • @Mr1MOA Ive heard those LAPG's are great. I will have to give them a try. To be honest, I havn't paid "full price" for a single pair yet. Ive caught LAPG's 20% discount, and the closeout 19.99 on the TDU's, and Originals. Thanks for watching and the comment

  • great vid man dont you just wish they would make this stuff in the good ole USA check out the la police gear brand bdus i have a couple of pairs for duty use they feel great

  • @scottmcmordie amen! I understand why they do it, but man if the IND pants were my first run in with 511 I wouldn't have bought more. Many thanks for watching!

  • @CJUS511TAC Thanks for watching CJ. I couldn’t agree with you MORE. 5.11 has the one of the BEST customer service in the business. Fast, polite, and respectful. They are also very knowledgeable of their products, and address the issues with a personal touch. Its one of the reasons I will remain a 5.11 fan. Thanks again for watching.

  • I have the same 4 colors on my 5.11 Taclite Pro pants. I haven't noticed any difference yet, because of the amount of time in between wearing the black ones and other pairs. But I will definitely go check them out today. Thanks for the great tip. I got all 4 of mine at uscav.com, buy 3 get the 4th pair free.

  • @TheLateBoyScout Hey Scout! Thanks for the comment and stoppin by. Always appericate!

  • @ixVENGEFULxi I KNOW! I was surprised when I first started getting into them, but the BIG thing that helps with?? COST. To have it made in the US means more $. The flip side would be the size consistancy at least. Thanks for watching!
