Our outspoken panelists range from devout Christians all the way to live-and-let-live agnostics. Today, more than ever, your family's religious beliefs are an expression of your cultural identity and your family's spiritual foundations. Even if you don't realize it, children of a certain age really do talk about God and think about worshipping, in their own style, even among their friends. So, what will you do -- or not do -- to further this conversation?

  • God is Santa Claus for adults.

  • @elicork2 I would call it convenient, as the only one who has been shown this proof of a god is you. Of course, since I'm a wicked, evil creature, I'm obviously just suppressing it.

Please, listen.. I can come up with a million and one ideas as to how the universe was created. Maybe it WAS a magical floating invisible entity in the sky that did it, I don't know.. but I need more than just a really old book to make me a believer.

  • @elicork2 I don't know. That's the point. I'd like to find out, but I won't assume to know the answer.

When you assume something, you shut out the idea of exploring it. "So, what's that rainbow?" "It's magic." "Oh.. what kind of magic?" "It's just magic, okay?!"

  • @Vinzaf thats the most stupid thing ive ever heard.

  • @elicork2 "scientific impossiblity" The forced and laws of nature came into existence after the big bang, so trying to say what happen before is difficult, but not impossible. There is scientific leaps in String Theory and Quantum Mechanics, or the Multi-universe theory; or better yet why not say "I don't know right now". Why is that so hard for religious people? Why not just say Zeus or the Titans did it! I'll have as much credibility as any other deity.

  • The job of a parent is to teach their children how to make sound decisions based on sound reasoning. The bible is an inconsistent document to base a sound decision making system on. I have noticed that the childhood belief in god is simply a part of human culture which has been subliminally introduced to them by simply speaking of god and explaining that god is a supreme authority. What child wouldn't fear that? Fear for fear's sake is not sound reasoning, thus a disservice to a child.

  • @Vinzaf

I'm not the only one to see it. Any one with eyes can see it. Are you an atheist? Do you really believe that EVERYTHING came from NOTHING? That's a scientific impossiblity. The only other option is the EVERYTHING came from SOMETHING. In your opinion, what do you think that something is?

  • @richslaters If they aren't drinking gruffly in neighborhood taverns on a nightly basis by age 22, I'll know that I had done something wrong.

  • When my twins are old enough, around 6 maybe, I will begin to strictly indoctrinate them into the belief that Mother Nature is the creator of the known Universe. When they're even more mature, 14 perhaps, I will encourage them to recognize no man's "authority," smoke cigarettes, fight regularly, read, learn, and fervently disdain electronic gadgets and all forms of social networking. My boys will surely be ahead of the curve, like their old man (86% percentile.)

  • @Vinzaf Proof is all around.

"...God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God."

What's your excuse? The creation proves the Creator
