i recon that although this joke is great it does not add up to in ariplane 2 the mental institution was named after regan,and let's not forget this joke

Bad news, everyone. I didn't want to have to say this. Unfortunately, due to complications with pneumonia, Leslie Nielsen, Dr Rumack in this movie and Frank Drebin in the Police Squad series/movies plus the many other roles he has played over the years last 60 years; has passed away at the age of 84. We shall never forget him.
Surely I can't be serious. But I am. And don't call me Shirley.

It is the "slamming conservatives" line that was over the top. Everyone, even Reagan acknowledges that most of his movies were low budget B movies that weren't very good. That has nothing to do with being conservative.
