"Zubrin really, nearly alone, changed our thinking on this issue..."
-- Carl Sagan

The Mars Underground is a landmark documentary about renowned aerospace scientist and visionary, Dr. Robert Zubrin, and his struggle to get the first human mission to Mars off the ground.

Shot entirely in breathtaking high definition (HD) and directed by accomplished documentarian, Scott J. Gill (Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy, The Blood Earth), this film brings to life Dr. Zubrin's vision, known as 'Mars Direct,', through startling 3-D CGI animation of the launch, voyage and landing of spacecraft, as well as glimpses into the future of man's reign on Mars.

Through Dr. Zubrin's compelling words, moody cinematic visuals and lush original score, The Mars Underground is a surreal journey from the glory of the 1960s Space Race, the decline of NASA in the 1980s and 1990s, through the faltering moon and Mars programs of today, and into one man's quest to propel humanity towards a new world.

  • Cure for cabin fever: video games. Seriously, I would be willing to make such a voyage and travel through interplanetary space to get away from Earth and go to Mars.

  • It is true.. it has been stolen from generations.. ive always dreamed of having some sort of job that involved being in space other than being an astronaut.. im 16... if they did it back then we would be way closer to heading farther than mars than we are now... i will be like 80 by the time we can do tht..

  • @Pizack3 Why do that? Why not find people (and there are plenty of people willing) to go and just do the job KNOWING that there is a big risk. Columbus and many other explorers left KNOWING there was a good chance they might die. When did our race become a bunch of putz's? Lets go to Mars and stop squabbling.

  • What if we sent an animal to Mars? That could be our test of the dangers of travel. Install the radiation shield-core, train a dog to go into the shield when the warning goes off, and to stay there until an all clear signal. Wire up the shit with all kinds of data monitors and sensors, automatic food and water dispensing, etc. With this we could analyze the dangers or radiation, length of trip, etc. Peta might complain, but we'll never know the danger for real until someone/something goes.

  • Maybe common people want simple-minded No-brainer jobs. They don't want to think. The Industrial age is over. We are on the verge of becoming a Technological Industrial Age planet. And, the people are not ready. It's too bad and so sad. I wish some of us could get together and push it forward, to the edge of the limit. Nature gave us this ability -- it is our right, it is our duty. Andrew pt2

  • We need to get up off our duster and push our technologies to the limit. Nature has worked on humanity for millions of years. Let's proove it. be the first species to leave this planet and colonize the solar system. People risk their lives Mt Everest, the ocean, scateboarding... We are wasting our time on iPods, iPads, cell phones. The minds of the people are our greatest assetts. Not the oil, textile or car industry. Imagine the technical job industry that would come about. Andrew pt1

  • I swear that man was a woman speaking

  • I agree with NASA--- We need to do a little bit more research of human space flight before we can send a crew to mars..

  • NASA is playing safe... is it good?? i don't think so... there is no way the gov can pull the plug on NASA... its like giving up the Throne..... We need to take risk..
