UFO author / researcher / historian Greg Bishop (Project Beta, Weird California) talks about Giant Rock and the Contactee Movement from the 1950s and 1960s in this clip I shot with him in September, 2007, at Giant Rock, which is near Yucca Valley, California.

  • i think a super wal-mart should be built next to the rock... to expedite the destruction of this great spot by humans !

  • I took a big shit out by that rock.. =) I should ask the dude in the video to do a little archiological research to see if he can find it hahaha...

  • for anybody who's curios, you can easily get here with a passenger car. though it's a much quicker trip on my dirt bike.

  • has anyone got any video footage of under there? What's the legalities of digging? lol kidding but would like to see how the hobbit lived.

  • OMG I used to drive there on my ATC back in 2003, now im in mexico;P

  • Hi Isaparro - Thanks for the info. I will definitely get out there one of these days. I was exactly your age when I visited there in '59. Rode out from San Diego on an old motor scooter, and camped near the rock. George and his wife were very nice to me. He had just started to build the Integratron, and only had the circular foundation completed.

  • hey russ! im 17 years old! and i ride out there by gaint rock all the time! and yes u can go there without 4 wheel drive! there are just a bunch of "Whoops" or bumps haha u have to go kinda slow out there if ur in a car

  • i ride out there al the time haha

  • I visited Giant rock in 1959, and met George Van Tassel. He invited me to one of his meetings with some friends in the room under the rock. He tried to mentally communicate with ET's, but after sitting in the dark for a few minutes, he said, "I'm hungry, let's get a hamburger ! " So much for that.

Anyway, I am interested in seeing giant rock again, and was wondering about road conditions. Can you drive in there without having 4WD ? Thanks. - Russ
