"How can you expect a scientist to enter his laboratory and come out with domesticated lions in weeks?" no i meant to come up with these lions in thousands of years, but i wasn't expecting them to live more than few weeks, that Carl is saying that we made cows in thousands of years, while the fact that we can't keep them alive for few weeks if we affected their lives directly nullifies his "theory"

First, That's not Carl's theory. He is an astrophysicist, and in this program he is merely reporting on the established knowledge among the biologists.

Second, can you open the "Cows" entry in wikipedia? Here is the first sentence, (Cattle (colloquially cows) are the most common type of large "domesticated" ungulates). Also, open the "dog" entry! (Dogs, Canis lupus familiaris, is a "domesticated" form of the gray wolf). Everybody knows it that those are man-made! Read more!

@fluxqubit that's not science, it's not even a theory, as a theory is an explanation of reality that has been thoroughly tested, this is simply guessing, wanna test this theory? go ahead, get 100 lions and turn them into useful pets that eat vegetables, i'll wait, let's see how many weeks go by before all of them die.

Noone has tested Blackholes in a laboratory. Noone even saw them with a telescope. But they are there.

Science can tell about what we cannot see with our limited senses or in our limited life spans. Species take thousands, even millions of years to evolve. How can you expect a scientist to enter his laboratory and come out with domesticated lions in weeks?

Moreover, Evolution is thoroughly tested in the lab., and the literature on that topic is just enormous.
