When politics enters the interpretation of archaeological evidence sadly the main casualty is truth. While there is no evidence of many of the central stories of the Bible (one way or the other) if we did not have biblical accounts of "Israel" we should have to posit some such group at that time and place.

This is very interesting, thanks for posting. As we all know, this area of the world would change dramatically 1,000s of years later when the Arab/Muslims invaded in the 6th century AD and claimed all it's cities history and holy places as their own.
