Let's Play: Lost Odyssey - Part 65 - "Optional Boss: Persona & 5/6 Pirates"

Continuing where we last left off, we'll start finding Sed's pirate crew. Start by going to the Sea of Baus and heading straight north to find a woman in a barrel. I don't know how she got in there.. but once you speak to Nick she'll go back to the Fortress. That's 1/6, head to the Old Sorcerer's Mansion next. Upon arriving, Sarah will ask us to get an old poetry notebook for her. So we'll be doing a few things while we're here. Before we can get Sed's crew member, we have to fight the boss lurking in here. So head to where we originally found Sarah, and get ready for an optional boss for this game.

HP:12,870
Abilities: Forceus, Death, Darkness, Reverse
Type: None
Element: Wind

Strategy:

- Sarah is mandatory for this battle, so keep that in mind. I went with Tolten, Kaim, Seth, Ming and Sarah. Having three mages actually isn't wise for this battle, so I'd suggest Tolten or Sed as a 5th person.

- This boss has no type, so you won't have a type advantage in this battle. However, it has a wind element.. so equip rings that do additional fire damage.

- As for protection, well... try your best. This boss can inflict Darkness, Paralysis, Sleep, Curse, Poison and Seal on your party. That's a lot of things to protect against, but try your best. Darkness is the worst, so keep that in mind.

- The boss has a move called "Reverse" where it will reverse which side faces you. When it's eyes are red, only physical attacks will hurt it.. and it will absorb magical attacks. When it's eyes are green, the opposite is true. Because of this, you'll want to be using your characters wisely.

- Death cannot be avoided or protected against. So if your mages are left helpless, you can bring back a member of your party if you wish. All-Barricadus doesn't hurt either, and there's always healing to be done.

- This battle has a bit of a luck aspect to it, but with patience and attacking Persona at the appropriate time, you should win.

After the victory, you'll get the [88 Calibur Rifle] as a drop for Sed. If it's your first time playing, you'll also receive an achievement worth 10g. Last but not least, we'll also get [Sarah's Notebook] that she asked us to get. Once that's taken care of, head back up collecting the [Blazing Fire Amulet] treasure hunt item before leaving. As you leave the mansion.. Sed will feel that he knows somebody that's meddling in the manor. Re enter the mansion, and go to the left hand door to find the second pirate, Rodo. Now that that's done, let's continue the search.

Go to the interior of the White Boa, and head for the Queen's Chamber. One of Sed's crew mates has a creepy stalker obsession with Queen Ming.. o.o Anyways.. Gondy, the third pirate will return to the fortress after a scolding from Seth. The 4th pirate can be found in Saman. Approach the pirate under the big tree. Barg will be the 4th pirate to go back to the fortress, and we now only have 2 more to find.

The 5th pirate is actually on the world map... and she's a bit tougher to find. Take the White Boa to a big channel that it's in the middle of the map. Crush through the ice, and release the Nautilus on the other side. Now.. the pirate is going to be in a jet of bubbles. There are several in this area, so search around. She will however be in a larger jet of bubbles and should be easy to spot. Some of the treasures underwater are: [Slot Seed], [2 Glacial Ices], and a [Seed]. Eventually, you'll find Jila. She'll be thankful for the rescue and return to the fortress. Only one more to go!

I couldnt trigger the boss. I guess i missed Poem fragment D, once i picked that up the boss triggered. Just giving people a heads up if that happens.

Lost Odyssey. I am having a problem with the Manichean on the 2nd time around. I got the quest to find Sed's friends, but when I go to the basement to get the book that Sarah talked about the boss is not there.
