  • I've always been intrigued by silent film. When I was born, we were shit poor and couldn't afford decent cable, but we got a channel that played a lot of silent and classic talkie films. As an infant, the pantomime and fast-paced shots were the most amusing thing to me. It used to keep me from crying and screaming. When I have children, I'll get them toys and whatnot to console them, but I'll make sure that they watch silent films. See if it has the same spell on them as it did for me....

  • How smooth is James Mason's voice?

  • Fuck Talkies!

  • Love the Silents.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • So interesting. What Bessie Love said sort of sums up alot of what the majority of the public during the time might have felt towards 'talking pictures' as well. Most people are usually resistant to change.

  • This is an excellent Documentary in 10 or 12 parts nearly (12 hours) as I recall...very informative...

  • From the Silent Era To Imax, lol, Wow, What A Transformation Huh???!!!

  • what is this??

  • Now, the early Edison attempt at having a sound and film combination, with the men dancing and the violinist -- the sound for this sequence has been found an it has been synchronized with the film. It can be seen on You Tube.

  • can you post the whole thing of this wonderful documentary?
