  • I bought one of these bows last year and have a few questions. Is this a good bow to bowfish with? Also, I went to crank the poundage down as far as it can (I 'm 15 and shoot a 55lb Martin Cheetah) and there were these black pieces of plastic around the allen bolts to adjust the draw weight. Are these like a child proofing device, because they fooled me. How do I adjust the draw weight with them?

  • @jtschid0910 Genesis bows can be used to bow fish, but they have a max 25 lb draw wt, the fastest arrow speed I have seen is 139 fps on a standard arrow so they may have trouble shooting the heavy fishing arrows fast enough to penetrate a large fish. You may need to change the arrow rest as well to accommodate the larger arrow. But for short shots and average size fish they should work. I havent seen the plastic covering the adjustment screws, the ones I have adjust like any other compound bow.

  • Can this be used as a hunting bow?

  • , No I dont recomend using them to hunt with. The arrow speed isnt fast enough to make a penetrating shot on big game like deer. Max draw wt is 25 lbs.The genesis bows are for beginners and are designed for multiple archers. I dont recommend genesis for a individua purchase, They dont have a let off on the draw back. Having said that, They could be used to bow fish or for small game like rabbits, especially if the archer enjoys instintive shooting (no sites). genesis bows are tapped for sites

  • I personaly, would start ALL beginners off with a recurve to teach draw,"anchor point" (or reference), release and follow through as they are much less powerful and will cause less damage should things go wrong. You should also teach string finger spacing with one over, two under as this will stop 'pinching' the arrow and knocking the arrow off the rest as demonstrated by Carson at 4.00

  • @roythearcher Thanks for your suggestions. The good thing about Genesis bows is that they are have no let off, which allows them to be used by kids with different draw lengths. They can be used in group settings, They can be used by multiple archers with varying draw lengths and draw weights. The Genesis bows have a draw weight range of 15-25 lbs. This gives them the benefit of an self adjusting draw lenght(like recurve) and low draw weight for the arrow speed generated(like compound ).
