Yes we did and good point!!! On YouTube, type in "Monte Vista Drive-In Theater" and then you will be treated to Mike Carroll's EXCELLENT short production! I never went to this drive-in but went to all of them in nearby San Jose where I still live (but not for long). All of them have been gone for many years except for the boring Capitol Drive-In which was my least favorite of them all. And the San Jose Drive-In was the FIRST one in Northern California and had a very interesting history.

That is so common today with kids in families and when we tell them that we were happy growing up without all the tech toys, they do not believe us. But the truth is that we WERE very happy and the kids of today will never know all the fun we had as kids during that time of innocence and simplicity in the 1950's and 1960's. Anyhow, this Google drive-in doodle will forever be my favorite!! And Mike Carroll on YouTube has an INCREDIBLE drive-in recreation! Check it out!.

Thanks for the notes and I did go to the website and the drive-ins are really nice. Sure wish I lived closer to them and could visit them. I have been in Michigan only once for the 1982 Super Bowl and doubt if I will ever go back to the state anytime soon. I am moving to New Mexico and the state has only 3 drive-ins but not where I am moving to. Darn it!

One guy did do it though in my state and named his drive-in pretty much after a familiar movie of the same title! He now operates two in the northwestern portion of the state.

I hope your wish comes true but I would not hold my breath for that, Just not profitable to build a drive-in today, especially when people stay at home alot now and watch movies on their BIG screens and home theaters. Yes, it is NOT the same impact as our beloved drive-ins were but again, it all comes down to dollars and cents to make a profit and the value of real estate today.

Good point......and the kids seem to think that they were born to be given everything without having to do anything!!! Too many parents today are NOT teaching their kids what the words "earn" and "NO!" mean!! That is why we have too many spoiled and disrespectful BRATS today, alot more than when we were growing up when the drive-ins and simpler times were a part of our lives. And we were also happy WITHOUT all the tech, toys of today!

Most kids today act like they have something to do Friday night when it seems to be staying at home anyway.

Sad really, I wouldn't mind one just across the state line in Michigan to go to since they got plenty of land left.
