Excellent commentary! I really appreciate the fact you took the time to create this video and it definitely gives me insight from the players point of view. I enjoyed listening to your thoughts and the things you point out will be on my mind as we continue to create the soundtrack score for the upcoming HMM VI. Take care and thank you for your support, your thoughts, and your encouragement! People like you make me want to do my best to create better and better music!

heroes V music better than heroes III? it's almost the same theme repeating with slight variations. i'd rather compare III with IV :) but they are both awesome!

@Stormskip Definitely Heroes 4. That music is absolutely epic, even from the opening screen.

I personally would probably not buy heroes VI if I found out paul romero didn't join the project...

I agree with daniel. HoMM III had some amazing pieces. For me HoMM V was good, but not on par with III, although the combat music was indeed an improvement.
Seriously that Fortress theme for HoMM III was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The Academy waltz too was brilliantly done.
Also, the comparison between Haven and Necropolis music for HoMM V is moot in my opinion. They are both different variations of the main game theme and personally I don't think that's a problem.

I personally liked the music from heroes 3 better. It was like an awesome feeling together with the game. But at heroes V, i don't know. After a time I started muting the heroes music and played my music from my computer in the background instead.

@PAULanthonyROMERO My advice to you would be to never fall into doing something automatic with the composing, and always try to make each piece unique and surprising, and different from what you've done before.
Also, I would love the music to be a complex and profound depiction of the heroes of might and magic universe. Remember that you don't need to write after the art direction, the design and the music can be two different interpretations of the same concept, that come together in the game.

Damn! Every time I hear the themes it gives me an irresistible urge to play the games again. Especially the Order theme in the end. Damn you and your awesome music Romero! And you friend King too!
It's a shame you only played 3 and 5 though. 4 has some of my favorites. I hope for a huge piece like the Grass theme. Its surprising the difference that is a 5 minute piece and a 10 minute piece on the loop.
1 was charming in its limitations and 2... it shows why it melted computer sound boards...
I personally liked the music from heroes 3 better. It was like an awesome feeling together with the game. But at heroes V, it was first pretty cool, but after a time I somehow got bored of the music so I started muting the heroes music and played my music from my computer in the background instead. I really want very good music in Heroes VI too.

@daniel94ne
I think the music in 3 complimented the visuals more.

I feel the similarity between the Haven and Necropolis themes is to draw the similarities between the towns. Death needs Life and Life needs Death, they are opposites but essential to each other.
Finally, a little off-topic, I hope they go back to the hex-grid of H3 for combat, it's a much better visual than just square blocks...

@Stormskip
I guess that could make sense. Just seems like a pretty arbitrary connection that doesn't need to be made.
I've gotten used to the square grid but I don't really mind what grid they use even though I'm positive it's going to be square.
