Chaos Theory

In Theatres Friday, April 11

Frank Allen (Ryan Reynolds), celebrated author of the bestseller The Five Minute Efficiency Trainer, has perfected the art of living via a foolproof system of timetables and index cards. In fact, his daily "to do" lists are legendary. A man known for playing it safe, Frank doesn't believe in spontaneity. Every choice he makes is deliberate - designed to contribute to a well-ordered, predictable life.

But life, as he soon learns, never adheres to a strict schedule.

Frank's wife, Susan (Emily Mortimer), and seven-year-old daughter, Jesse (Matreya Fedor), find his obsession charming in small doses, but as a steady diet it can be very frustrating. One morning, Susan attempts to loosen her husband's scheduling stranglehold by adding ten minutes to his day. But, by setting the clock backward instead of forward, she inadvertently unleashes a series of mishaps that turn his meticulously ordered life upside down. A belligerent ferryman, a ruthless seductress, a reluctant mother-to-be and the secret amor of his best friend, Buddy (Stuart Townsend), combine to send his life into complete chaos.

As his life unravels in several directions simultaneously, however, a stunning family revelation forces Frank to look fate squarely in the eye. Shaken to his core, he starts living entirely "in the moment," allowing him to defy the conventions that have heretofore defined him. Those carefully coordinated index cards that had once kept his life in perfect order now become a deck of chance as Frank scribbles spontaneous ideas on random cards, shuffles, chooses and follows the luck of the draw...with unexpected results.

Frank is about to discover that not even an efficiency expert armed with timetables and index cards can change the serendipitous nature of family and friendship, love and forgiveness.

"Chaos Theory" has been rated "PG-13" by the MPAA for mature thematic material, sexual content and language.

  • I now make my decisions with index cards :)

  • analyze/analyse are the same thing right? Its just one is american spelling and another is british. wow an asian like me knows grammar!

  • @LMUnderH2o BTW thanks so much for all the spell check and sentence corrections i mean where would we be without Google search making us seem smarter than we really are i'm sure it must all be so confusing for you; and oh before i leave does that handy plumber still come over to clear your pipes whenever your partner's out? Guess that's why Chaos theory resonates so strongly with you i'm sure his hard c...k is such a bright and beautiful plane of existence

  • @LMUnderH2o Oh i beg your pardon didn't know i was talking to a fab female, so how long have you been female hmm, are you post or pre-op? feels good to be female now doesn't it, maybe you can finally fulfill your fantasy of getting it on with Ryan Reynolds good times good times....more coming

  • @232lalas P.S. I am not gay, nor am I a man, but that wouldn't make a difference in reviewing the meaning of this movie or its beautiful message. When you understand the message about love, your world will be a much happier, brighter and more beautiful place. I truly hope you reach that plane of existence.

  • @232lalas Aaaaand your true colors really come out... Sad - though not surprising - to read that you are a bigot as well. (& boy, that British-system English IS intellectually demanding) Not so much a matter of missing, or misinterpreting, storyline, but an angry, bigoted person projecting his own story. **So sorry that you missed the beautiful message of the film.** I got the plotline the first time around, not needing multiple viewings, nor do I have "so much time on my hands".

  • @232lalas Too bad you must have failed in your British system of English: "...your deductions does not support..." should be "...your deductions do not support...".

"Deductions" is a plural subject, no matter what part of the English world you are in. (spoken phrasing here, in case of 'never use a preposition to end a sentence with') Also, check your hearing aid.

  • @LMUnderH2o Well i guess that's alright with you, it soothes your masochistic view of ideal love 'the lover must bear all the insults of the beloved'; i'm sure you have watched the movie a thousand times, wish i had so much time on my hands i would have loved to also. BTW how is the Gay parade at your place, i'm sure you are an active member what can i say whatever floats your boat Buddy. Don't bother to respond i won't be gracing you with a reply gay arsed mutherfucker!

  • @LMUnderH2o About the spelling thing, i'm so used to the British system which is more original and intellectually demanding than other forms; what part of the world did you say you where from again? As per the movie, well your deductions does not support the conclusion where he advises his soon to be son in law to accept his step daughter to wife knowing fully well that for two weeks of breaking up with her bf she was holed up in some hotel room with a fellow called Jack Dee..more coming

  • @232lalas P.S. Don't adopt any children, as you couldn't possibly love beyond blood-ties, nor are you intelligent, nor wise, enough to raise a loving, wise, productive, mentally & emotionally healthy child, male OR female.
