After the walk on our own moon, we began exploring new worlds by remote control, using more and more advanced spacecraft. Among the most successful missions was Voyager II. Launched in 1977, Voyager II explored the outer planets and their weird moons, moving ever deeper into space, into regions completely mysterious to us Earthlings. On board is a gold-coated phonograph record, containing one hundred and sixteen images of Earth and its inhabitants, ninety minutes of music, and an audio essay of Earth sounds. The pace of technology has been so rapid, that Voyager's computing capabilities are outdated, equal to just a fraction of a domestic PC. The computer subsystems on Voyager contain a total of only thirty-three thousand words of memory storage. In 1976, the search for life and the exploration of the solar system continued with the Viking mission. Its destination was Mars. The mission, to land robot explorers on the Red Planet. • If you can find 3 total lies in this, why believe any of it?

  • @Schwarzkald But sadly, the 'evidence' has, until now, always been debunked and hence found to be nothing but bullshit within a few years.

  • @Schwarzkald Well, there's a lot of bullshit in this world. Alien, sapient life on Earth is hardly the only controversial and dubious thing about which some people vehemently claim to have insider knowledge - astrology, reptilians, homeopathy, scrying, dowsing, contact with the dead, creationism, religion, Loch Ness monsters...

  • This is a paradox, because according to scientist they're hard at work looking for life in other planets, but here in Earth we have evidence of being visited by ET's, we have all this videos all this photos, yet scientist are still looking, either all this photos and evidence are bullshit or the scientist are in denial. Go figure.

  • 41:50 that's a pretty silly explaination Richard Dawkins.

Though possible, it's a stretch to conclude that the complete destruction of a planet is an inevitable outcome of technology.

  • @dilwich123 really? where have you head that? whats the name of the documentary and /or paper?

  • @dunnono00 Im Gutted :( I thought that was the winner......well we still have the Europa moon if we could drill far enough into the little moon they say the squashing effect back and forth as it orbits Jupiter could keep liquid at a reasonable tempreture miles under the ice surface......Lets go ice fishing it would be amazing.

  • @dilwich123

Perhaps you're mistaking 581 c for something else. It's generally believed now that Gliese 581 c is outside the "habitable zone" and that it likely has a runaway greenhouse effect. It may have water, but in the form of vapor.

Unfortunately, the media tends to run wild when it comes to discoveries like these, and don't seem to stress enough that liquid water is only "believed" to be there based on a number of factors rather than fully confirmed.

  • @dunnono00 Oh no my friend we have found many planets containing water - water H2O is very easy to detect and they have been finding them for years a few years ago they found Gliese 581 c which is huge a Water World.

  • @dilwich123

It would probably be more accurate to say we have found planets believed to have liquid water.
