This week President Obama delivered a speech at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada highlighting the progress weve made in the first 100 days of the Recovery Act, specifically noting the importance of a "renewable energy revolution." Prior to the speed, the president, accompanied by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, toured the base's solar power system, seeing first-hand how solar energy is being used to generate clean electricity supplies including 25% of the bases total power.
For this to make any sense, the batteries would not only have to be more effeicient. They would also have to not contribute to pollution themselves. Currently most batteries are extremely dangerous to the environment.

The middle-east should start importing batteries instead of oil or something, they are more exposed to the sun than any other countries. Something new under the sun man...
Engineers just gotta find a way how to make batteries last longer...
Like getting water from a well using buckets. Use big ships for batteries the size of an oil truck and place them in city energy banks.
