I came up with the beginning about two weeks ago and I loved it. I thought it was really beautiful. But I couldn't figure out anything it could go with. I thought I'd be left with a nice, short little theme that wouldn't be of any use to anyone, anywhere.
Opposite this, I began playing something else - the next part of the song - which at first I didn't associate into this one, as I didn't think it would compliment the first part. But instead of trying to write a popular song structure, (verse - chorus - verse - chorus - bridge - chorus) I decided to make the song into a story all by itself - and that story is about the four seasons on earth and Global Warming, which I feel fits into the melancholy feeling of the song.
In that sense, I like the cyclical nature of this piece. How it starts with powerful Hope, through happiness and enthusiasm, which begins to fade away into quiet, humble despair, before slowly beginning again with a new hope.
The third part of the song is actually I piece I wrote a long, long time ago, which I've never been able to fit into something until now. So wahay! It's good to be able to stop trying to squeeze it in :P
The inclusion of a second player is to help with the depth of the piece. It allows a complete range of high and low notes, despite being reasonably simple.
All in all, it isn't a particularly hard song to play. Although I needed to train my fingers to stretch a far distance without aching, for the beginning part.
There are a few mistakes, mostly unnoticeable, but as usual, it's not a perfect recording. Having to move my chair in the middle of the piece was a massive aid to that, but it was unavoidable, having to both reach the other end of the piano and move out of the way of my accomplice (who, for some reason, stood with her bum in clear view of the camera for most of the second half of the piece.)
Wow that was very soothing but unpredictible at the same time. In my head I tried to predict what the next chord would be but you suprised me, it was the tyoical song, it was nice :)

Thanks for your kind comments, I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I just hope it doesn't sound too disjointed.
