  • i am fortunate enough to see Elliott perform, once in 1999 (solo) and 2000 (band). i was right in front of him during his solo set, close enough to shake his hand. i was very much in awe of his performance and at the end, he looked down and waved good-bye at me. because i was standing so close, i can say he's a very good looking man.

  • when he smiles its like the sun breaking through the clouds. this tears my heart out.

  • He was really a humble, shy, introspective person : the exact opposite of any top seller american pop singer.

    RIP

  • i would give my life to have been able to just tell elliott how much he has helped us all through. thank you elliott "im never gonna know you now but im gonna love you anyhow"

  • how come its an interview from 1998. but hes playing happiness that came out in in like 2000?

  • so crazy to think he was going through a heavy depression during this time. he's in such good spirits here.

  • elliott smith lost a TALENT show??! thats like a balloon losing a helium contest!

  • Man he was gifted, so missed..............

  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Thank you, Elwin, for uploading one of the most (if not the most) revealing interviews of Elliott I've seen. There was something so touching about him. He was so unaffected and so unguarded. That shy, nervous smile just kills me.

  • best album is self-titled

  • such a beautiful smile and such a beautiful man

  • I was there that year and I saw him play. It's the most fond memory I have of ever seeing anyone play at a concert/festival. I became an instant fan of his music and have been ever since. RIP Elliott
