all the pictures in the clip are of palces in ethiopia. All Idan raichel"s music is original and soul moving. I originally did the clip for a rastafarian friend that is inlove with ethiopia.

The Ethiopian part (amharic langage) tells:

can you hear me- oh my homland- my people- can you hear me- Please give me a sign (this was the part sang by the man at first). Then, there is just the spoken amhraic partt (by the woman) whic says:

At first- in the time of Axumite Kingdom- there was - as religion in the Northen part- the paganism- and also the Hebraism (one of the ancient queen of Ethiopia- was very fmous -Yodit- . The cross in the front of the women is a sign of Christianity andit was not forces. Now, it became also somehow a decoration tatoo in the nrthen part of Ethiopia (wollo)

@rachamim Just for the love "history" ..They do not enslave none... as you might know..by studying yr own history..in the centures there is a superemacy of one dynasty and then another one..at first axumite were Pagans..the Hebrewy and then Christians and once again Hbrew (during ten Quieen Yodit)..so its just a question of the power of one regnat dynasty in comparison to another one..So, PLEASE avoid using these bad words..and just see where Ethiopian Jews have been based ....ok?, Juse before..
