  • It is a great feeling to know that I have inspired another artist.

  • Thank you very much. As a self taught artist, I was fortunate to have met great artists who were generous with their time and knowledge. I have run across artists that were very secretive about their technique, paints and formulas...almost to the point of paranoia. I feel fortunate that I am an artist and love sharing what I have learned. I know first hand how helpful it can be. It is my way of giving back and thanking those who helped me.

  • I love your work!! What brand of acrylics do you prefer?

  • Hi and thanks for the compliment. The brand of acrylic paint that I prefer is Utrecht Artist Series Acrylics. It is a thick heavy body acrylic. For me it is similar to painting with oil with all the advantages of acrylcs. Other brands like Golden are good paints but do not have enough body for me...too thin. Although I do not currently use them, I do like Sennelier Acrylics and Nova Acrylics. They are both great paints.

  • I use synthetic brushes. I prefer them for acrylics because they release the paint better than natural bristles. I love the Princeton 6300 synthetic brushes. They are great brushes, they last long and their largest size is #20.

I am still using a limited patette. In fact it is a bit more limited since my first video. I now use Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow mediium, Cad. Red Medium, Ultramarine Blue and Yellow Ochre. I mix and produce all my colors from those five colors. Happy Painting.

  • Thanks a lot for uploading this well made and informative video. I use a glass palette for painting but I might try the type of plastic palette that you recommend. I'm off to check out your website, and btw I really like your work!

  • omg...I actually did something similar with my easel and the lips. I don't put braces behind the canvases - mine are much smaller - but I do sit the canvases on the edged of the braces so I can paint the edges. I thought I was nuts. So it's not me, huh? lol I don't understand why easels are built like that.

  • I love your work and your videos. Thanks so much for being so generous with your techniques. I have been painting for many years, won lots of awards, but the fire has burned to an ember. You have inspired me to want to paint again!

  • Thank you very much for the great studio tips!
