I just got my new Blackstar HT-5 today and I am SUPER impressed. I thought I would throw on a quick recording I just did with it so you can get an idea of what this little amp sounds like. I will say that this recording DOES NOT do this little amp justice. Please spare me the critiques of my playing. I'm not the best player in the world and don't claim to be. I just wanted to let people that are interested in buying this amp hear a descent recording of it. This was all recorded in Cakewalk Sonar 7. I am using SM57 mics. I have a Marshall 4x12 1960 Vintage reissue cabinet. It has Vintage 30's and G12T-75's in an X patern. I miced one track with the G12T and the other with the Vintage 30. 75% on the left ear and 75% on the right ear. I have it in the 8 ohm output of the Blackstar. I did no messaging of the tracks. What you hear is what is coming out of the amp accept for a very slight reverb that I put on the Vintage 30 track. You can't even hear it really. The only pedal I have is a Boss SD-1 that I put in front of the amp and I have the gain on it set just above zero. I think it puts a slight edge on the sound that I like, but very little difference at all. I played it with my Warmoth guitar with one humbucker pickup. It is a dimarzio Steve's Special.

  • At the risk of being beaten I have to ask: what song is this?

  • @Rummed "Round and Round" by Ratt, my version anyway.

  • Would you mind sharing the settings on the HT-5 thats an amazing tone for that little amp :D

  • @qwertyofasdf I agree, this is the best little amp I've ever owned. If you put the video at 720P and make it full screen you should be able to see the settings. I colored the marks on the knobs in red. Thanks for the comment.

  • Round and rooooooooooound!

Sounds incredible if that's the tone it gets in real life.

How much did you pay for it?

  • I paid about $270 to my door. I got it used off of ebay.

  • very good cover! :) used the sd1 on the dist channel? no eq in the loop, just the sd1?

  • @Usercool genuinely, the blackstar does blues, rock -and- metal. you might need a little bit of a boost (ocd, ts808 or the like) to cover full on killswitch engage or lamb of god style tones but the range it covers is huge. i've never been happier with an amp - the ht-5 is definitely here to stay.

  • Really awesome tone!! Perfect RATT/Dokken/etc style tone! Great amp!
