Great Ape Trust scientist, Dr. Sue Savage-Rumbaugh, has been named one of the 2011 TIME 100 Most Influential People In The World. Dr. Sue talks about what the recognition means to her and the bonobo research program at Great Ape Trust in Des Moines, Iowa.

What truly magnificent beautiful work Dr. Sue does with these precious creatures. It really makes me feel good as a human being that there are special people like Dr. Sue that does the wonderful work she does. The bonobos need protection and their intelligence is quite astounding. Seeing videos like this of many really give absolute awe and reverence for beauty of truly wanting to understand our link to the animal world.

Is not this unbelievable that apes can understand language and other human things?!! What is more even exciting to see, is how different the apes are from us and between each other, how some are more talented also in different ways than others. Kanzi is just so great! I hope this work will continue even with wider scope than now. I am looking forward how it will develop with more talents among bonobo and with more understanding by scientists. It is very exciting!
