Simply beautiful!!! ...the music and the soloist! I'm opera singer myself and am seldom touched by a performance, but this brings tears to my eyes...so beautiful!

There are many people in this world who've given up hope. So much pain, hurt and anguish. This piece transcends chord structures and even earthly understanding. It embodies everything that is kind and gentle. A loving hand there to carry us through the toughest storms in life. And not only to endure tempests, but to be reminded that there is so much beauty the heart can't take it. That feeling is worth more than all the money, power, and prestige the world could offer.

We are singing the Magnificat in its entirety in my chamber choir right now. I am an alto and I am loving it so far. We still have movements 5 and 6 to familiarize ourselves with, but the others are all coming along wonderfully. Rutter is a great composer.

this is my dream piece!oh God,help me bring this to reality.

@lty2k84 yes that definitely is the issue. But as a soprano, I know if we fall flat....the rest of the choir will as well.

@brandialisha Flat?--could it be because the Choir may also be flat?

@redfingernails2009 So agree.

The sopranos seem to be a tad flat. Let's raise our soft palettes ladies! but beside that, this i my favorite work from Rutter's Magnificat. The soloist sounds lovely
"And his mercy is from generation unto generations, to them that fear him." Everything in this recording matches these immortal words perfectly. The music and the performance do justice to her who first uttered these words, full of mercy and compassion to all those in suffering (of which there is far too much in the world today), gently bestowing much-needed relief. Can any music, or any work of art for that matter, achieve greater heights than this, not just to entertain but actually give hope?

beautiful music. soloist is excellent. women's voices in the background tend to be under pitch.
