Thanks! I am making some this weekend!

you put the teflon tape on backwards. it should go on the opposit way so that it doesnt come off when tightening..

great video,
It works well in areas where it rains more throughout the year.
I am thinking in building an underground watertank to store lots of rainwater as we have a dry season of nearly 6 months.

That broke down the steps in an easy and simple manner. I can't wait to make my own rain barrels!

Well done! Thanks for making everything so clear. This definitely beats paying $175 for a rain barrel. I'm going to make my own. Thanks so much!

Food grade, clean, 55 gallon barrels in Miami can be had for about 30 bucks. I bungee cord a piece of my pool screening or window screening across the top of a topless barrel to filter out dirt, twigs, bird droppings and mosquitos. I have had good success with just the teflon tape and the snug spigot so far and havent needed a bolt on the inside yet, altho I can see how it would stabilize the spigot very well. Simplicity is my goal. Is painting it a good idea?
THANK YOU!! I've been looking for a simple explanation about how to attach a spigot to a plastic barrel, and you answered that very nicely.
