One of the last great rababis, Bhai Chand is from a family lineage and spiritual tradition that dates back to Bhai Mardana, lifelong companion of Guru Nanak.

The rababi tradition continued at the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) until 1947 but after Partition Bhai Chand's family was compelled to leave Amritsar and has been isolated in Lahore, Pakistan ever since. His lifelong dream has finally come true -- to once again sing kirtan for a Sikh Sangat.

Program took place on Sunday, 23/10/2011.

@hartej Couldn't they allow them to sing in the parkarmas at least ..there are a lot of half  past six fellows performing there Ive heard them and wonder who allowed them , they are just hopeless Bhai Ghulam would excel by far

@hartej Sikhi does not worry about who you were born to, but rather who you are. read : putri kaul na paleyo on page 996 of Guru Granth Sahib.

Even Guru Nanak's sons had no place, in sikhi if they did not wish to be aligned with 'sikhi'.

As far as keertan goes, if he is awesome. Then sikhs should look at that fact objectively and whole heatedly embrace bhai Gulam Muhammad.

SGPC wont allow the decedent of of Bhai Mardana Jee himself to do keertan at Darbar Sahib. Sad. Modern day "Khalsa Panth" Singh Sabhia mentality.
