  • ST = Sports Technologies

The focus is a hatch back car, it is NOT a sports car, i dont care who you work for it doesnt chenge the fact that its a focus, dont get me wrong, i love my car to bits and i have spent ALOT of money getting it to the stage its currently running at, which is miles more than it was running in this video. But non the less a sports car is a Lambo or a porsche, not a ford sadly. Its quick though lol, got Quaife LSD fitted now also.

  • when you drive a sport car your supposed to brake with engine most times not with the normal breaks...thats one of the reasons why sports cars are standard...so first learn how to drive your car

  • The Focus is NOT a sports car, its a family hatch back with a big engine. Standard they are Ok but much better tuned, if you had ever drove an ST i doubt you would make the comments you say as engine braking is fine in a car that is light but Focus is very heavy and as such NEEDS to use foot brake to slow, especially when you drive the track i had just done in this video, very twisty roads with some straights, get the power down when you can and scrub it off before cornering.

  • didnt have handbrake on cause brakes were hot?

  • the handbrake was on, but because the discs where hot when i first put it on, when they cooled (and contracted) the handbrake lost its grip on the discs so i had to run round and tighten it up.

  • not that most of you guys saying the ST has special brakes or its my fault etc etc would know, but FYI the ST has the same brakes as a Ford TRANSIT VAN so thats how special they are! The AP Racing 4 pots that now take care of the stopping should have been factory fitted! Anyone who has drove an ST hard and i mean hard, will know what i am talking about.

  • Ummmm, i don't mean to be a humbug here, but this isn't anything special. If a 1.1 Saxo had disk brakes and you drove it hard enough exactly the same thing would happen. You've basically put a video on here showing us that while you were driving you braked a lot....?

  • @stevesroom all show and no go? theyre faster than most cars without going into proper sports categories that are not hatchbacks.

  • Do you guys know what these xr5's are designed for? I'll give you a hint.. Look at the standard tyres they come with and the number of doors they have. Getting the idea? For the design spec, these cars do a great job. The brakes do get hot but the standard pads are meant to operate @ normal road operating temps.... Not racing... Wanna take it to the track? Fit harder pads..

  • @diegosaldana LOL you SO wrong!! Haha what cost more a transmission or brake pads?

  • man you just made a point - ford do cut corners - it may look like an st but it still a family car.

ford idea all show no go.

  • I love a fast Ford. Love the Clarkson quote "ASBO". Roooooooooooney!

  • @daqqer2k not with standard brake pads

  • @FocusASBO To be fair, having transit brakes on a car, isn't a bad thing. Transits weigh a lot, which takes far more braking force than a car requires

  • @diegosaldana Thats one of the most stupid and ill informed comments ive read on YT. Well done. When you drive hard, you need good brakes. Any performance car driver worth his salt will tell you that good brakes are worth more than horse power alone. If your barrelling into a corner on the limit and rely on the engine, you'l be in the fuckin hedge lol!

And please dont tell me how to drive, Ive owned 2 Impreza's (Type RA and Type R) and a 33GTR Skyline so i think i may know a little about this!

  • when the brakes are too hot you park your car without handbrake till the brakes cool . . . sorry for my bad english

  • @diegosaldana It is obvious you have never raced or driven cars to their limit. the first thing we teach in a driving school is brake late into the turn and hard. In our cars if I see someone using the engine for braking they will be yanked out and taught the proper way to drive. If you run a rotary engine their is almost no engine breaking available. And then the biggest problem with engine breaking is gearbox damage or exploding a clutch. cost less for brakes use good rotors and pads
