This film was selected for the Ulster American Society's "Northern Ireland Film Festival" that was held on November 7 & 8, 2008 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Craft Traditions is a television series celebrating the passion and skill of local craftsmen and women who are dedicated to making hand-made objects in a world dominated by mass production.

Each program is devoted to a specific material - wood, stone, iron and clay - showing contemporary craftsmen and women at work, creating both functional and decorative objects in these materials and talking about their approach to and love of their craft.

Many of the distinctive techniques which have been passed down from generation to generation are illuminated in each program.

The series also explores aspects of the history of each craft tradition in Northern Ireland and considers the way they have changed with the times.

Wood: In the episode about on wood, we see how forest oak is transformed into finished objects and why it has been a favorite choice of Irish craftsmen for centuries.

2007, BBC Northern Ireland.
