@tdelamont Oddly enough, that's what I really like about this generation T-Bird: the way it combines a touch of class with the thrift and ruggedness of the Fairmont. It really was the right car for the times, and would hold up now, if it had a nicer interior; like, say, something like an early-90s Acura NSX or Legend...
@patsaxon Oh yeah, looks like you could play space invaders on that display. This was way ahead of the time, I remember Cadillac was only just coming out with digital readouts in the early 80s. I also wonder if the 5.0 L engine was the block that evolved into the 1990s Mustang 5.0? P.S. Erin is classy and gorgeous, a great spokeswoman.
Until the entire digital display burns out in six months, the blinky dashboard will distract you from the fact that you just paid a premium price for a Fairlane with a fancy graphics package.
My cousin had an T-Bird back in 1981 i was so jealous and he was only 21 and i was 15 LOL! I was amazed at the technology with the keyless entry, the digital instrument panel, the amliofier sound system. I fell in love with that car, but my cousin was a speed demon and kept damaging the car and getting it fixed over and over. By 1983 he got rid of it and showed up with a 1980 Lincoln Towncar and i was even more jealous LOL! It was all white with white leather and all the digital stuff as well.
I love that electronic instrument panel as I hate analog. I am not into sports cars as I would love to see personal luxury cars make a come back again!

If I had the money & a driver license back in 1980(I was in 1st grade then),I would only buy this car if it came with "Erin Gray".
