If post a comment that I do not know what rock is, try looking at my channel and see what I listen to: Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Queen, Jefferson Airplane, and ect. There are more rockish ABBA tunes, witch will be soon posted. I disagree with all of you how just think of ABBA as a disco group. They are only known as "Disco" because it was 1976 people! That was what Dancing Queen was about. It was during the time of Studio 54, and all those disco clubs. And I am not Discos biggest fan. That song was just what the 70s where like. A young pretty girl, out on the town, the discos, the music, dancing, and ect. Don't you people remember?! You probably where one of the people dancing to this stuff once!! ALL of these songs ARE by ABBA! For gods sake, I am 12 and already know that!!! ABBA ROCKS!!!
*This is also a video response to canadianstuddmuffin and his video Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I have something to say to you: You have used the comparison of "Dancing Queen" about 3 times now I hope you now! To me, very lame excuse, that unfortunately, many people agree on. I'm sure I don't have to explain my self again about the song, for I have posted why in the beginning of the description, if you have read. The Foundation's nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body more than 500 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes, and more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year." ....from the HALL OF FAME website...
Probably the most legitimate reason that ABBA had not been chosen is that they are really not thought of as a rock and roll act. Like the Bee Gees, they are often labeled as Disco act even though they only recorded about dozen disco style recordings. ABBA was actually recorded a highly electic catalog of songs, they dabbled into glamrock, music hall, Spanish pop, Hendrix influenced guitar songs, europop, folk-pop,fifties style rock,synth-pop, bubble gum, etc. But the there music could best be summed up as euro-pop. ABBA's songwriters were inspired to write songs by the Beatles and that they were working in the same pop rock tradition as the Beatles. Most ABBA records have a backbeat-their recordings are not Tony Bennett records. ABBA's band was two guitars, a electric bass, a drumkit and keyboards. Many of the acts in Rock the hall of fame who are not strictly rock and roll, there are country, hip-hop and jazz artists-and there whole heap of soul acts. The hall selection committee actually un the past had a decided bias towards picking doo-wop groups, rythem & blues and soul acts. The acts most similar to ABBA that are already in the hall are perhaps the BEE GEES , The Mamas and The Papas and the recent inductee-Madonna. These three acts did not do a lot of straight rock and roll records, but they are widely respected. ABBA has been an influential group due to their being the first major superstar act from from a non-English speaking country.
Another reason ABBA was lightly regarded by some as that they recorded a decidedly commercial body of work, that sometimes was a little light it least in the beginning on artistic achievement.A lot of ABBA fans sense that the other reason ABBA was not inducted for so long is simply that there is a bias in favor of American acts and ABBA is the quintessential non-American pop act...The success of Mamma Mia made ABBA a much better known act in America, and so ABBA became less obscure.
Many other rock and pop acts been left out of the hall. In any selection process biases creep in, some people are left out and some are inexplicably chosen. The Rock and Roll of Fame seems to have gotten into the habit of choosing lots of minor acts and leaving out bigger acts.
As far by my standards, there IS enough room, for ABBA.
To me Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvaeus are "soundcraftsmen" or "soundlandscaper"! In a short decade of their active recording years, the band have explored and successfully interpreted many a genre for every album literally had a different focus and musical theme.
They are GENIUS!

Hope I didn't sound like a type of person who just listens to this particular band/genre,I wanted to show that this band wasn't just 'corny pop & lame disco' which they usualy are labeld as,I wanted to show that they could gladly change their genres.Deep Purple,Rush MoodyBlues,GuessWho,Yes,(etc)-I'm fans of them, &they should have been inducted long before these guys.Believe it or not,I apreciate classic rock. This is probably one of the only pop bands I'm found of...
