Gay rights activists protested at a Board of Education meeting Tuesday night after a Union Township teacher allegedly posted anti-gay remarks on her Facebook page. Though supporters of Viki Knox say her first amendment rights should be protected, her opponents are calling on the school board to fire her.

  • Satan infiltrates people with weak, corrupt minds & manipulates them into thinking that gay people are "sinful" , but those of us who accept the Lord's will over the devil's evil and contamination know that it's the anti-gay zealots who are the problem here. Homophobes are sick, twisted individuals who need our help, pity, and discipline. When Satan is their puppet master, and when they pretend to be "Christians" even though they are spreading hatred, they need to be rebuked. It's God's will.

UNION - After spending several months investigating special education teacher Vicki Knox, the Union school board decided she should not be teaching at the high school. Knox ignited a firestorm of worldwide attention in October when she posted anti-gay remarks on her public Facebook page. The board made the decision Dec. 20, officially approving a resolution to "certify" tenure charges against Knox.

  • SHEBOON!

  • @RCSVirginia Ya....kinda seems like they tried to take advantage of the holiday hustle and keep her termination quiet.

Thanks for giving me a heads-up on this one. Maybe this will put some people on notice that homophobia is no longer tolerated in the educational system of America. The exact same thing would have happened to her had she made an equivalent racial, ethnic or religious slur.

  • @43wella "homophobia is not to be characterized with racial bigotry."

Why? They both utilize the same irrational, systematic effort to dehumanize.

  • Chicago Defender, 1 April 1998

"Homophobia is like racism and anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry in that it seeks to dehumanize a large group of people, to deny their humanity, their dignity and personhood. This sets the stage for further repression and violence that spread all too easily to victimize the next minority group."

Coretta Scott King, the wife of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
