My water collection system using food grade barrels and parts from Home Depot, OSH and Loews and Ace Hardware..

Can you believe there are cities that PROHIBIT the collection of rain water? Talk about not just walking all over your rights but trampling all over them. I can't believe people still live in those cities. Hello writing on the wall!

What is the TDS of your rainwater?

Rain water coming from Tar or ashpalt shingles is toxic. if collecting from tin roof, safe to drink if filtered properly. Use a biosand filter for drinking water. That's a whole other technology. Some people use rain water for washing clothes, and have cisterns in their basements to collect this. Filters necessary. Again a tin roof would be great for true safe water collection. First rain of the season do not collect as the water will be very dirty!

Until I was 12 years old cistern water all we drank when I visited town I found there water tased bad (clorine). When I was younger then 8 or 9 I used to have someone strain the mosquito larva out of the water but later just didn't look or considered them extra protean. You didn't see mosquito larva when the cistern was full.

Why do you 'daisy chain' the barrels at the top? The first barrel has to fill completely before the second will begin to fill. If you connect them at the bottom, they'll all fill at the same time ...

@Submanca i mean not to drink it if harvested from the rain gutter.. Rain Gutters very dirty...
