Episode 4: Having sex in MRI-scan

Sex in a MRI-scan! Pek van Andel, Willibrord Weijmar Schultz, Eduard Mooyaart and Ida Sabelis conducted the revolutionary experiment in which heterosexual couples made love in a MRI-scan. The Medicine price in 2000 went to the Netherlands.

Ig Nobel Prizes are the not-so-well-known alternative of the famous Nobel Prizes. Each year since 1989, ten scientists receive prizes for "research that makes people LAUGH and then THINK". Watch six scientists and their studies about the most important subjects of our daily life: having sex, food, money, death, and having sex again.

Director

Mr. Bahram Sadeghi (1967, Iran) works since 1998 as a director and host for public TV stations in The Netherlands. In addition he is a freelance writer for various national newspapers and weeklies. Mr Sadeghi has no hobbies.

MRI isnt harmfull at all but.. if you have metal parts in your body it can cut you from the inside until it comes out your skinn and also sex is a normal thing nothing disgusting about it ...

i dont understand, looking at it in an mri...it seems so many diffrent things to me, both beautiful like a heart beat, yet painful like one is being stabbed, im starting to wonder how do women indure that, being a man ive only ever thought of one side of it, now i feel almost sad and guilty about it...am i supposed to feel like this?

So basically his "research" amounted to: I saw a picture from an MRI scan. It was bootiful. Then I thought: "what would it look like if two people boned each other and I did an MRI scan of that?"" I wanna be a scientist!

Wow, an oncologist with 4th grade writing aptitude. Not all radiation causes cancer nor is all radiation harmful to the human body. You may want to pay some attention to those science classes your parents are wasting their money on.

I was kind of interested in what this guy had to say until he said "sexuality in societies has two poles... the miracle part... and the evil in it" What the fuck is he talking about? Sex is not a miracle nor is it evil. I'd rather not learn things dealing with science from someone with a religious bias and who also believes in miracles so good bye. He probably believes in talking snakes and virgins getting pregnant too.

It is harmful, but you have like one or two of those in your lifetime. The amount of damage is so minimal compared to the amount that it saves you. eg diagnosing cancer.

MRI scans are huge super conductor magnets which flip all the atoms in your body. XD Pretty funny, and scary.
