  • What a beautiful story. Sad how you have shows like American Idol where Mr. Tanner's of the world are created and discouraged by "critics."

  • One of my very favorite Harry Chapin creations. I always loved the song and suspected there was a "germ of reality" to it...now that I know the inspiration, it makes the song all the better.

  • @thelavendersheep bit late I realise, but briiliant comment. Congratulations

  • I was introduced to Harry Chapin by a couple of guests when I worked at Wildwood Lodge Red Bay Ontario 1980's . All I can remember is the one of the guys name was Curtis. I married one of the guests from Wildwood. Curtis if you ever read this remember all my lifes a circle. Good times back then. Funny how tunes like this ones brings back memories.

  • Story of my life . I had the awsome pleasure of seeing Harry in Kansas City. Not realizing I was seeing Greatness Heaven should be proud !

  • Such a sad song about a man who stopped sharing his music because he'd been judged and found guilty of not being good enough. Made me cry. Such is the current state of our world.

  • Real good person making real good music - enough said.

  • sure miss harry, loved listening to him.

  • Harry Chapin was one of our all-time great songwriters. Still sad he's gone.

  • @Starrman69 I'm sad at the fact I just heard of Harry Chapin a couple weeks ago. He had powerful lyrics that painted a picture just enough so you can finish what set up.

  • I first heard this song at church on Sunday, I loved it so much I cried! I just wanted to see the real Harry Chapin sing/tell it. Beautiful RIP Harry
