One of my very favorite Harry Chapin creations. I always loved the song and suspected there was a "germ of reality" to it...now that I know the inspiration, it makes the song all the better.

I was introduced to Harry Chapin by a couple of guests when I worked at Wildwood Lodge Red Bay Ontario 1980's . All I can remember is the one of the guys name was Curtis. I married one of the guests from Wildwood. Curtis if you ever read this remember all my lifes a circle. Good times back then. Funny how tunes like this ones brings back memories.

Story of my life . I had the awsome pleasure of seeing Harry in Kansas City. Not realizing I was seeing Greatness Heaven should be proud !

Such a sad song about a man who stopped sharing his music because he'd been judged and found guilty of not being good enough. Made me cry. Such is the current state of our world.

Real good person making real good music - enough said.

sure miss harry, loved listening to him.

Harry Chapin was one of our all-time great songwriters. Still sad he's gone.

@Starrman69 I'm sad at the fact I just heard of Harry Chapin a couple weeks ago. He had powerful lyrics that painted a picture just enough so you can finish what set up.

I first heard this song at church on Sunday, I loved it so much I cried! I just wanted to see the real Harry Chapin sing/tell it. Beautiful RIP Harry

What a beautiful story. Sad how you have shows like American Idol where Mr. Tanner's of the world are created and discouraged by "critics."
