Alex Brown - (Come On) Shout (1985)

One of my favorite songs of all time! Alex Brown used to be a Raelet (one of Ray Charles' backup singers), and to my knowledge this is her only solo single. It's from the soundtrack to the movie Girls Just Want To Have Fun, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. It's a great album, and this is one of the finest examples of why the '80s had the best dance music in history!

I just saw this movie for the first time. At my age, I'm surprised I haven't seen it sooner, especially since I'm a big fan of SJP and HH and synth-pop. Loved the movie and the soundtrack and this song is great. I also love the opening dance scene in the film...floods of memories came back of the girls in their leg warmers. Nothing like a feel-good dance ensemble movie where the hot boys love each other and the hot girls are frustrated! LOL

80s dance music require lots of grace and energy. You do need to stretch your joints and move your limbs to full range. The movements are of high impact and with much movement of the neck, jumping, swirling round and round but still keeping in mind the beauty and artistry. I am proud of the fact that I belong to that generation.
