I connected my laptop to a Samsung Full HD TV using hdmi. I set the screen resolution to 1920x1080

  • Ubuntu is definatly the coolest OS for showing off i.e. eye candy and other things but ubuntu is just way to messy and does not have a fully customizable GUI, then you have to operate through terminal, what?? That I hate. It's cool it's free though... Anyway, it's great to see more HD movies, youtube is a million times more enjoyable with it.

  • What GUI is fully customizable? Ubuntu uses Gnome and the Windows GUI is not very customizable. KDE is? I don' t often use KDE.

  • No h264 mp4. You can upload in ogv, but Youtube won't recognize it as High Definition if you do.

  • @ChakGuitar I have tried getting ubuntu to work it appears that the max VGA Resolutuion is 1366x768

  • Please can i know how did you configure your resolution settings to get the full hdtv support? i have an hdtv sony bravia 1080p and i can't do this :( please help me.
