1996 Album In the Zone.
The vocalist on this beautiful rendition of Starship (witten by Michael Henderson) is Robert Brookins.
I nearly freaked out when I found out that Robert Brookins passed away age 46, just a month before (April 15th 2009) Wayman passed aged 44, this May 15th 2009.
RIP to these beautiful souls who lit up our lives with beautiful music.
Man, there is going to be one Jam Jam session up in heaven!

  • IS THIS THE ROBERT BROOKINS THAT PLAYED ON STANLEY CLARKE'S CD FIND OUT?

  • @ONLY1PEA @ONLY1PEA I believe so

"Robert has also recorded keyboards with artists including the late George Howard ('A Nice Place To Be'), Ramsey Lewis and Nancy Wilson ('The Two of Us'), Stanley Clarke ('Find Out') and Roy Ayers."

  • That's tripped out, I'm just now learning of Robert Brookins passing. I liked his rendition of Donny Hathaway's, "Where Is The Love". How did he pass?

  • @whouwit24 @whouwit24 He died of Heart Attack, age 46.

  • This is the hottest version of Starship I have ever heard....R.I.P. Wayman Tisdale & Robert Brookins.

  • I must say, I agree totally.

  • i remember picking up this cd at a shop full of old cds and trade ins. I will never regret getting this one. So many fond memories it brings back. Wayman Tisdale is missed dearly... but I am so grateful that he used his many gifts to bless this world and make life a bit sweeter with his music. RIP Wayman, until we meet on the other side.

  • I worked on the original version of You Are My Starship. This is an excellent version, as nice as the original. Robert and i were label mates at MCA(now Universal ) in the late 80's. I was not aware that he had passed away. A definite void. R.I.P. Brother Brookins and Brother Tisdale.

  • Remember he had a good NBA career also

  • SEE YOU IN HEAVEN MY FRIEND.
