i'm supposed to be getting surf lessons this summer cuz i haven't surfed since i was 12, and back then i didn't have to compete with anyone for waves so now on regular beaches with more people, locals scare the shit outta me. they hate anyone from outside the area, i mean jeez you don't own the ocean :/

Fuck that. The waves aren't controlled or owned by anyone. You may have been surfing there longer than anyone else, but if people lets you have some waves, great, but don't sit there and take every wave that you can and expect to get them. Newbies may want to get respect, but because you've been surfing longer doesn't mean you are entitled to it.
