my favorite destination on the Sunset Limited!

I love to ride on Amtrak!

@SF3751: It's one of the normal surfliners w/ amfleets for Del Mar. 798 doesn't get back to LA till after the Chief leaves.

Nice video, thing I'm so happy about is when they got rid of the M and E, no more stupid back up moves and takin' forever to get an air test when they had that crap, it's "Highball No. 4" and he's outta there!

Great Video,Looks like a fun ride.

Awesome video! It makes me want to go on a train trip so much! Too bad it would be pointless to go to LA to get on this train because Fullerton is alot closer.

That train seems too long to be 798/99 and it's too early for that train to arrive into LA. Since this video was shot in July, I think that was a special low-level set used for the Del Mar races.
streets and freeways are so huge in the usa, but train stations are so small compared to german ones (eg frankfurt am main, leipzig, berlin)...
...thats why you're a car nation... :-)
is it a good trip to take the southwest chief from chicago to los angeles?

@mCHbCK It is a wonderful trip, I took the train all the way to Chicago and had no problems at all. I also suggest the California Zephyr which runs out of the Bay Area of California to Chicago but runs through the Sierra Nevada mountain range as well as the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Both trips take 3 days and 2 nights to complete from one end point to the other.

That sleeping car attendant in the background is Tom. He's a cool guy. I've had him twice on the Starlight.

Really? He is a awsome guy. I saw on the Starlight most recently (after this trip) but that was a long time ago in SLO. I was chasing that train and thought I remembered that face, turned out I was right LOL.
