@sameside18 I believe it's a mix of both since if you pay attention to the background you can see some of the scenes. If they had to go back to make changes then I'm guessing they just reanimated the shots to fit the actors or vice versa. :)

@nickster181 It is Lee Unkrich. He has joked about how he and Ed Helms are always mistaken for the other when they are walking about. Few other times he has posted a pic with him hanging out with Ed Helms with a caption such as "Congratulating my buddy Helms on Toy Story 3." as a joke.

@Phuckinthapool The movements that you are seeing do help in numerous ways. It may seem silly that the actors are bouncing around and moving around alot while they are doing a VOICE performance, but it truly does help in the long run. It helps them get into their characters so they can do a better performance since they are so into it.

@Phuckinthapool It also helps the animators. When animating they are relying on storyboards, color scripts, what the director says and etc. Seeing these sessions on film can help the animators on some scenes. If you compare some of these takes with the movie scenes then you might see the character is doing a similar movement or facial expression that their actor is doing on the screen.

I wonder how they capture high quality recordings if they stand that far away from the mic. I use that same mic for music and if you are that far away then the recording will sound like you are far away.
