yeah the reason OU officials decided to name OU sooners was because of that.. they wasnt gonna name them that because the word sooner meant really a cheater because of the land run but it also meant somebody who was ahead of everyone..

if you knew your history and clearly you do not a sooner is someone who crossed into indian territory earlier than the time that was given for people to claim their land in the land run the people that did not cross early were called boomers and the ones that did cross early the night before are called sooners... there now i have educated you... learn it love it BOOMER SOONER
