I cannot use my custom samples loaded from the PC into the Korg Kronos, when inserting a USB and then in disk mode, the whole system would freeze or lock up with everything fail to respond, very annoying as I cannot transfer my samples to my newly bought Kronos-88 in any shape or form! Korg,.., I can't believe you have not tested this yet!!!,... 2 different USB keys with different sizes both seems to cause the Kronos to crash, I hope you have a fix for this show-stopping problem soon!, thanks, Heider

  • (B) Good news is that I took it up with Korg, and their engieers where very nice to push for a new release!!!... Please visit the Korg (UK) website, and then goto Support, and Downloads page for Kronos, you will see a table with all PDF files, however if you look slightly above that table you would see the new version 1.5.0 which fixes my USB problem, and probably yours too. Therefore, there are no longer any locks on the Kronos with version 1.5.0.

Good luck and I hope this helps,

    Heider

  • Hi Mate, I resolved mine by myself.

    (A) On Version 1.0.7 (initial Kronos 88 Release that I got shipped with it) it would lock-up with a "Large / LBA" FAT32 partition type, (regardless of your formatting of FAT32 or FAT16). The solution was to zeroize the partition table (use any partition-low-lever editing tool to wipe it off, and then let the Kronos format it), this is solution-1 to the problem.

    (B) (To be continued in the next paragraph due to max characters limit on YouTube...)

  • Thanks for the tip, I tried, however, the minute I click on the USB disk, it freezeds before I can select "yes, please format it"!... From the video as you can see, the system freezes before I am given any option to do anything on the inserted USB disk, therefore, I can't format on the Kronos.

Also, yes, the USB disk is FAT-32 the first one was formatted on a PC and the other was on the Fantom X (Roland system), both failed miserably!

Thanks for the suggestion. I hope there is a fix soon

  • I am having the problem of not being able to see any files on my USB drive. My Kronos88 can see the drive but not any of the files on it. It is a FAT32 drive so I am still trying to figure out my issue. Good luck on yours. The board stills sounds wonderful.

  • Hi Heider! Did you try formatting the USB drive on the Kronos instead of the PC and giving it a try? Also experiment fat16 vs fat32 if you haven't already ;-)
