I'm not giving undue high pedestal to Talebans of Afghanistan, But it is a fact that Alqaida operatives were part and parcel of Northern Alliance well before 1996 (formation of Taleban).
It was brutalities of Northern alliance together with their CIA agents (Al Qaeda)destroying peace and lively hood of Afghanistan.
There were more Afghans fleeing as refugees during Northern Alliance times prior to Taleban times of 1996 to 2001.

This little asshole's poll only shows the ignorance of about 60% of Canadians that would think they could negotiate with terrorists. As for expecting Quebec to ever agree to troops in Afganistan? Thats the same province where people were hiding in the church basements when they were asked to fight for their country during WW2. If they do decide to negotiate send Jack Layton and if he gets his head chopped off at least Canada wouldnt loose much.
