Home design and manufactured "spud launcher". This is made of parts you get from Ace Hardware, Wal Mart, and the grocery store. The igniter is one of the gas BBQ igniters. Use a ABS or brass valve,
2" steel pipe nipple, 4" expansion chamber (ABS), 2" ABS or PVC pipe, igniter, Idaho potatoes, White Rain hair spray. Be careful this thing will shoot 200+ yards.
This is what retirement is all about!

  • God damn dude! Lay off the aqua net, way to much spray

  • you guys are using wayyyy to much hairspray for that thing

  • Excellent bit of engineering there, Norm!

I can just hear Jess now... "Hun? Have you seen my hairspray?" -- hehehe..

I can just see you making up some strange sort of target at the other end and videotaping that next ;-) uh, flak jackets and safety gear of course .. hahaha...

  • That is a really unusual design. Interesting engineering. If you ever get fed up with the "art" of getting the spray mix right (click, click, click...) check out something called a fuel meter. You can find them all over the net but the SpudFiles site has several good posts on them. I have a video on my "advanced" cannon that uses one.

If you have some time on your hands this can be a cool hobby...
