Mt Tabor Street Luge Fun

This is how I like to relax! I built the streetluge myself. it is actually a bit different now...has 8 wheels instead of 4 and ceramic bearings...for speed. I made this video about a month ago...first posted on my 'shoegooguru' channel.


Mt. tabor is very close and some fun, but we are looking for longer and faster roads. Will be better once the roads around here are warmer and drier. .

I do stand up downhill longboarding too(some)but I like the street luging better. I rode down with 4 or 5 DH longboarders a little while back and had to brake to keep from running into them. SL is faster, due to the lower center of gravity and much less drag. My SL is faster now due to the changes mentioned(as in Feb 28 video)
it is a GREAT sport. Still very popular in Europe though has waned quite a bit in the U.S.

@saattchi yeah...it is a very nice place but just WAY too short. Go look at Talimena Fun Run 2009' or 'street luge Skyline Blvd' vids by Jeff Sharp. Now THERE is some riding...and great video. I'm inspired by and aiming for THAT. I've got a ways to go!

Looks like it is realy fun. I would do it if i was maybe 10 years younger. I am sure glad you didn't get hurt or hit a tree or something I haven't order my kit yet lol. Good luck happy luging. :)

@tcklmepnk41 Besides...when I go out I want it to be in some way more exciting than cancer or falling in a bathtub. If somehow I make it to 80 or so I will strap colorful incendiaries to myself and skydive into an active volcano. Stay tuned for THAT video!

This is nowhere near what we can do speed wise. Wait till summer hits and we can get out to the early morning(less traffic)hiways. This is just a fun run nearby.

@c1fuzzles (: well...maybe not "awesome" but thanks! I have been using MT Tabor to tweak and tune this newest street luge(I have built 5...but not like this one...my favorite) so that it is perfect for the much longer and faster runs coming. I made two big changes(added wheels and ceramic bearings)since this video and so it is now 'done'.

@tcklmepnk41 Ha! why "10 years" younger??? Nobody thinks that way about skiing or ??? There are 70+ YO sky divers and hang glider pilots etc.

the point is to NOT put it off. if you want to do it...do it NOW. I wish I had been doing it ten years earlier and if I am doing it ten years FROM now...then I know I am living right. (:
