Robert Annibale, global director of Citi Microfinance and Community Development is introduced by Professor Ray Fisman, director of the Social Enterprise Program at Columbia Business School, as the opening keynote of the 2010 Social Enterprise Conference--Redefining Return: Financing and Scaling Social Innovation. Annibale is widely accredited for having redefined how banks like Citi approach corporate social responsibility and setting the standard for other large financial institutions. He reminds participants that microfinance and providing financial services to the poor is not only corporate social responsibility but rather "the natural continuum of a bank's work."
