If there was ever "good riddance," it was Rather getting his butt fired for trying to make the decades-old Guard memos come out for a Kerry 2004 win! He hated both Bushes with a passion unrivaled by any of the intolerant Bush-hating journalists. Leslie Stahl says in her book that he tried to scrap the story that CBS's own expensive poll showed George HW Bush had a big lead over Dukakis in September 1988 even though that poll was supposed to be the lead story in an Evening News broadcast.
