Maybe only if the gamers are into it. Rumors about Microsoft's big announcement this week were focused on a new computing gadget from the company that could work hand in hand with the Xbox 360. Some speculated Microsoft would also shed further light on a $300 million deal with Barnes and Noble, which could see an e-reader running Windows 8 and other features friendly to the publishing world. But several outlets, including USA Today and others, have reported that the partnership won't be part of Microsoft's big announcement.
For gamers, the biggest news would be a tablet with the guts and the connectivity to power real gaming—and streaming—from Xbox. That would require some powerful hardware, but it's not at all out of the question for the company. And beyond gaming, an increasing number of content partners with Xbox in recent months suggest that it might have an even bigger plan for world domination...a total replacement for your cable television providers.

The Surface is most definitely portable! The Surface RT is 1mm THINNER than the iPad, how is that not concealable? And having a keyboard as a screen-cover sure beats carrying around a Bluetooth keyboard, how portable is that? Watch The Verge's review of Windows 8 to get a glimpse of "solid performance", that should clear up the confusion you are experiencing. You are part of a minority that thinks it's ugly, I have heard nothing but positive review on the design, even from Apple Fans.

Proper tablets? As it stands these proper tablets sit where they shouldn't. I still find not a single use for them. Why? Cause essential apps my phone does better in my hand. I want portability and utility. Right now tablets suck especially the Ipad.

It sounds like you're upping Microsoft, rather then being properly objective.

The Keyboard cover will add massive weight. It also can't be bent, so it will need a table to lay on.

1mm add thickness for the device compared to iPad, is still considerable weigh and bulk added. Then consider the RM(limited Metro apps device) version vs to Win8 version which will be even thicker.

It's clear the Surface is already a flop. Microsoft is a dying company, even though it's still huge.
