This is the fake field goal for the win on 9-18-10. Notre Dame received the ball to start OT. They then go on to kick a field goal to take a 31-28 lead. MSU then gets the ball back and is held to what looks like it will be a 46-yard field goal when Head Coach Mark Dantonio decides to call the play that they have been working on in practice..... • @lilver04 I've heard a few comments about this, so I looked it up, and the rule states that it is the head ref's job to look up at the play clock from underneath the goal post, and when he sees it turn to zero, he then looks downfield at the play, and if the ball has not been snapped or has not started to be snapped, he will then call delay of game. When he looked, it must have JUST gotten off...

  • Imagine if he missed the catch

  • need the video reaction from the student section cuz we went nuts after that play

  • Great Game Great Play !!!!! Looking forward to playing you guys in the Cap1.

  • @thefootballtoday abc's clock ran out. and we would but i think we have been too busy winning the conference. sorry im not sorry brah

  • Serious question: What does it matter if the play clock was :00 or not? Yeah it would've been a penalty, but that would've just backed MSU up another 5 yards and improved Bates' QB rating since the TD pass would've been longer. Notre Dame didn't have a clue on that play and it's not like another 5 yards was all of a sudden going to make that play impossible to pull off.

  • @lilver04 like lettich said, refs have their own play clock that is a tweak behind what you see- ask any football ref- what you see is just to display the relative amt of time left- it actually happens a lot if u look for it on tv, the play getting off when u think its at zero

  • @lilver04 The Espn play clock is not the official clock, get it right. The Actual clock is what the officials look at and they must re-direct if the ball is snapped before delay of game. If the ball is not snap off before, then their will be a 5 yard loss, if it is snapped. Then no flag should be thrown, bottom line is that Notre Dame didn't execute and Michiag State did. End of Story.

  • I was at this game and it was wicked I was four rows from the field on the left side of the endzone and was right there for the TD with one of the best view in the house. Everybody was shocked and i think it took about 1 second before everyone realized it was a fake and went wild. After having to put up with the annoying ND band, cheerleaders and leprechaun all game, it was sweet to beat those damn Irish. This was the greatest football game i've ever seen and to be there live - i am so lucky

  • MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU MSU GOOOOOO STATE

    GO GREEN GO WHITE

  • delay of game penalty? - so what - they do it again from 5 yards farther away - he was so open he could've ran 50 more yards

0 on the play clock, delay of game = irrelevant - in this case

  • clock ran out but ok,michigan state can suck my cock, while i Watch michgan wreck everyone
