@XM655bovril, would XM655 ever be able to have one flight with a cat 3 check, or is she too old now?

she sooooo wants tooo go up and play

EXCELLENT !

@workshop77777 several tens of millions of pounds. 655 would have to go through all the work 558 has and have 4 new engines made or re-manufactured

@Blackout60800 unfortunately she is not allowed to fly, all main wheels stayed firmly on the floor.

Stunning Vulcan video! The temptation to just lift off there must have been immense. In addition to others' comments, I've only heard the howl in flight from certain angles, maybe that's why we don't hear it in the vid?

@NJLanwarne 655 has 300 series engines, these engines dont usually howl. only the 200 series ones howl due to airflow in the airintake (intake narrows to take smaller diameter engine)

I'm not sure if this is related to XM655 having different engines than XH558 but is there a reason why XM655 does not appear to howl?

@planeboy737 Vulcans with 301 engines "roar", those with 200 series engines "howl". The difference is all to do with intake geometry and air flow rates. They all roar from the jet pipes, but on the 200 series you can also hear the howl from the intakes.
