interlude:
Kick it James, get on it man!
Mmm, mmm, mmm, my-my-my.
Look at those magic fingers just boogie up n' down those silver frets.
I don't know nothing but the blues.

  • He's joking the whole time, but ask any guitarist what they think of that comping, bass manipulation, reharm on the turnarounds, and LOCKED IN feel, and they'll tell you the same thing. The cat is a monster player. There's a reason why every guitar legend in rock talks about JT as THE MAN on this axe. Ironically, something most of his fans never really picked up on. As amazing a singer/songwriter as he was, people who know what time it is know: JT was THE virtuoso guitarist of folk rock.

Pat Metheny says James Taylor is one of finest gutarists ever...he wrote his tune ""James'' for him. Oh yes, his voice is perfect, very soulful..his chords are very jazzy and that TONE from the guitar is just superb.

  • JT reminds me of those handsome yet brooding, dark, tall, idealistic, romantic heroes!

  • @Turnback: Actually, it just occured to me. But with the self deprecating sense of humor, hair in eyes, and head-bowed-down shyness, he really reminds me of Mitch Hedberg.

  • Just occurred to me how much young JT reminds me of Kurt Cobain.

  • @Drew27368 you're an idiot

  • this is the real deal, best shite

  • @yisacknayrabin Well said!!!

  • My wife is a blues singer. She just told me how great this song is. I already loved JT anyway before I met my wife. Now she has introduced me to a new aspect of him.

  • People think cause JT never played loud or fast, he wasn't good - but the simple truth is he has more control over his instrument than any musician alive. The most incredible, technical guitarists of our generation could take lessons from JT.
